iot-device-type-imagotag-policy

Creates an IoT Device-type Imagotag policy and enters its configuration mode. Use this option to enable support for SES-imagotag‘s Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) tags on WiNG APs.
Important

Important

  • This feature is supported only on APs with USB ports.
  • Ensure the AP is using PoE+ (802.3at) power for the USB port. See power-config to set the power mode.
Note

Note

Your AP will not communicate with the ESL server with any exisiting or older versions of Imagotag configuration.

ESL tags are small, battery-powered devices used by retail businesses to display information, such as product code, pricing, and more. These tags are activated, configured, and managed through an SES-Imagotag server. The tags and server communicate through an ESL communicator (a USB dongle) connected to the USB port on the WiNG AP. This communication is over the 2.4 GHz band using a proprietary RF protocol. The ESL communicator acts as a bridge between the tags and the server, using WiNG AP as an infrastructure device.

This policy enables the ESL communicator, identifies the Imagotag server host, configures the payload size, and more. Apply the policy to the AP‘s self (in case of stand-alone AP) or profile context. When applied to the profile, the policy is pushed to the AP through the adopting controller.

Important

Important

On the Imagotag server, configure the WiNG AP's ID. This enables the server identify the WiNG AP. Use the show > iot-device-type-imagotag > status command to obtain the WiNG AP's ID. Refer to the Imagotag server configuration guide for more information.

Platform support:

Syntax

Imagotag secure connectivity

Beginning with WiNG 7.4.0, the Imagotag ESL solution supports secure connectivity between an AP and ESL server on-prem or on-cloud. Any unencrypted mode of communication between an AP and ESL server is not supported starting with WiNG 7.4.0 release and onward.
Note

Note

You must upgrade your existing on-prem ESL server and add new parameters to the iot-device-type-imagotag-policy to enable a secure connection.
Note

Note

Ensure that your ESL server is migrated to latest version supporting outbound connection mode and encrypted communication support.
Imagotag secure connectivity is supported in the following platforms:
  • Access points – AP310i/e and AP410i/e
